The Colusa County Boating Safety Unit is responsible for promoting safe boating on the the county's waterways. This involves:
Conducting routine inspections of vessels for necessary equipment
Conducting search, rescue, and recovery operations
Enforcing state laws and county ordinances to ensure the public's safety
Patrolling the county's waterways
Providing educational programs
The Boating Safety Unit is currently in the process of implementing a fully functional dive team for rescue and recovery operations.
Colusa County has two lakes and six other waterways, including the Sacramento River and East Park Reservoir. Recreational boating activities on these waterways include:

Beginning January 1, 2018, the mandatory boating safety education law goes into effect and will be phased in by age. If you operate a motorized vessel on California waterways, you will be required to pass an approved boating safety exam and carry a lifetime California Boater Card.
