Investigations

Responsibilities

The Investigations Unit consists of plainclothes detectives and a detective supervisor. The detectives are responsible for following up on all reported crimes not routinely handled by a patrol deputy including:

  • Crimes against children
  • Financial crimes
  • Homicides
  • Property crimes
  • Sex crimes

Duties

Detectives are often called to a crime scene to:

  • Collect evidence
  • Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects
  • Photograph the scene
  • Take fingerprints

Training

Detectives receive specialized training in criminal investigation.
