Literacy

Founded in 1986, the Colusa County Free Library's Literacy Program provides a variety of services for adults, families and children in our community. From building an at home library to improving English reading and writing skills, the Literacy Program is integral to the mission of the Colusa County Free Library.

With an adult illiteracy rate of 34%, Colusa County has the second highest illiteracy rate for the entire state of California, and California has the highest illiteracy rate for the entire nation at 23%. Coupled with a high school dropout rate of 30.6% it is imperative that we meet the challenges and needs of our community members that are struggling.
