Background

Jose Merced Corona was born and raised in Arbuckle. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice at Yuba College and has held leadership positions in the Military, the Knights of Columbus, and is a retired Sergeant from the Colusa County Sheriff’s Department. His community involvement is extensive. In 1992, he received the California Golden Oak service award for bringing the D.A.R.E program to Colusa County. He established  "La Corona Boxing Club", which is the only free private boxing club in California; hundreds of county kids have trained free of charge. He’s been awarded numerous commendation certificates for community volunteer work. He’s been a head coach or assistant coach at Pierce High School and Johnson Jr. High in Basketball, Track and Field, and Cross Country for over 20 years. In 2013, Supervisor Corona was honored as the Pierce High School football homecoming grand marshal.  He represents District 1 with  honor and integrity and uses his fiscally conservative values to ensure that the peoples purse is not wrongfully and carelessly spent.
