The purpose of the County’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program is to provide housing, economic development, public facilities, public infrastructure, and planning activities with the principal purpose of benefiting low/moderate income persons in the County.
The County is currently working with local non-profit organizations that have submitted proposals for Program Income Waiver projects eligible for funding from its CDBG Program Income Fund. The Program Income Fund has an estimated $1,021,000 in funds available for eligible projects throughout the unincorporated area of Colusa County.
All projects must meet Federal and State eligibility requirements and can include: Public Services; Housing Activities; Economic Development; Public Facilities and Improvements; and other specifically allowed projects.
Eligible projects must also meet Federally defined National Objectives. Examples of National Objectives include: benefiting low-income persons (most projects fall in this category); aiding in the prevention of or elimination of slums or blight; and meeting a need having a particular urgency (e.g. disaster).
Given that only two Program Income Waiver projects can occur at one time, priority must be given to proposed projects of significant scale which can be implemented in the very near term and "closed-out" quickly. Please also note that under the County’s revised CDBG program, there will be additional opportunities in the future to apply for CDBG program funds.
