Preparations are underway for the Special All-Mail ballot election in the Cortina Community Services District slated for May 2, 2017. District voters will vote on a measure on whether to change from an appointed board of directors to an elected board of directors. At this same election voters will also vote for candidates to serve on the 5 member board of directors. Directors will only serve if the measure passes to change to an elected board.
Arguments in Favor of or Against the measure may be filed starting January 9th and no later than January 18th 5:00p.m. at the County Clerks Office. Arguments must be accompanied by a completed Ballot Argument Statement form and may not exceed 300 words in length.
Rebuttals to Arguments in Favor of or Against the measure may be filed at the County Clerk’s Office starting January 19th and no later than January 30th 5:00p.m.. Arguments must be accompanied by a completed Ballot Argument Statement form and may not exceed 250 words in length.
Prospective candidates must be a registered voter residing within the district in order to file as a candidate for CCSD Board of Directors. The candidate filing period begins on January 9th and closes on February 3rd at 5:00p.m. Candidates must obtain and file papers at the County Clerk’s Office.
The County Clerk’s Office is located at 546 Jay Street, Suite 200 in Colusa, and is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.(except as noted). Individuals interested in filing as a candidate or considering filing an argument for or against the measure, are urged to contact the County Clerk’s Office for more information at 458-0500.
