For Immediate Release
April 24, 2017 3:00PM
On 4/8/17 at 12:35 am, California Highway Patrol Williams Area Officer conducted a vehicle stop on two subjects driving a black 2014 Nissan Maxima for vehicle code violations related to unsafe turning movements. The subjects inside the vehicle were identified as Oscar Madera Graciano, age 30 from Gerber, Ca. and Jose Manual Rico, age 31 from Corning Ca. During the vehicle stop, the Highway Patrol Officer learned the driver, Graciano, was driving on a suspended license.
As the Officer prepared to tow vehicle and give Graciano and Rico a ride to the City of Williams, the subjects mistakenly attempted to take a bag that contained the narcotics with them into the CHP patrol car. The CHP Officer, as part of standard procedures, searched the bag for possible weapons and located the nearly 3 pounds of methamphetamine. Following the discovery, both Graciano and Rico denied any knowledge of the drugs.
Both Graciano and Rico were booked into the Colusa County Jail for numerous narcotic related crimes.
