Colusa County Task Force Seizes One-Half Pound of Methamphetamine

For Immediate Release

MAY 29, 2018  2:30PM

On May 23, 2018 at 1652 hours, the Colusa County Task force, with the assistance of a Colusa County Sheriff’s Deputy and two California Highway Patrol Officers, conducted a vehicle stop on an older model gold Toyota Corolla on Hwy 45 and Leven St. in Grimes Ca.  Zachary Pomfret, 35, of Colusa was driving the vehicle accompanied by Beatriz Cerpa, 29, also of Colusa.  Pomfret was unlicensed.

On April 18, 2018, Pomfret was released from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.  He was assigned to Post Release Community Supervision through the Colusa County Probation Department and was fitted with a GPS ankle monitor.

Through a collaborative investigation between the Colusa County Probation Department and the Colusa County Task Force, law enforcement identified irregular behaviors in Pomfret’s travels.  Pomfret would leave the county weekly travelling main highways and interstates then return to Colusa traveling on county roads. It appeared to law enforcement officers that Pomfret believed there would be less of a law enforcement presence on the county roads.

On May 23, while traveling in Colusa County, Pomfret was observed by law enforcement violating the Vehicle Code and the above-mentioned stop was initiated.  Upon a search of the vehicle agents located one-half pound of methamphetamine, $174.00 in U.S. Currency and several cellular phones.

Pomfret and Cerpa were arrested and booked into the Colusa County Jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine for sale, transportation of methamphetamine and conspiracy.
